πŸŽ₯ Intra-Operative Video

  CRT

πŸ“Œ Overview

As part of the AiCCESS study protocol, you will be capturing intraoperative video of wound closure. This guide walks through how to use the mobile app to capture videos.

❓Questions About the Protocol: If you have questions about the AiCCESS study protocol, please contact your Facility Manager or the Facility Network Administrator.

⚠️ Before You Enter the OR

To ensure that you are as minimally disruptive during the operation as possible, please ensure you have completed the following steps before entering the OR:

πŸ›œ Note: Many ORs (and some other areas of the hospital) may not have a strong internet connection. We recommend completing all of these steps in a location with strong, stable, and fast internet.

  1. πŸ”“ Log In: Ensure that you have logged into the application before entering the OR.
  2. βž• Select or Add Patient: To capture a video or image, you will need to select a patient profile. If a patient profile has not yet been created, you can learn how to create a new patient profile here.
  3. βž• Select or Add Wound Profile: After selecting a patient, you will also need to select a wound profile, as a patient could have multiple wounds. If the patient does not have a wound profile, you can learn how to create a new wound profile here.
  4. πŸ‘† Select the Patient: After creating the patient, select the patient profile from the Dashboard or from the My Patients screen.
  5. 🩹 Select the Wound: Select the applicable wound you will be videotaping.

You should now have the camera open and be able to take a video.

πŸŽ₯ Capturing Your Video

When capturing your video, you will affix the phone to a tripod or stand in the OR.

βŒπŸŽ™ Note: For patient and practitioner privacy, no audio is captured. Before starting your video capture:

  1. 🎞️ Framing: Ensure the wound is entirely inside while mostly filling the on-screen box. You can also pinch to zoom if needed.
  2. πŸ‘οΈβœ¨ Focus: Ensure the image is focused by tapping the wound on the screen to auto-focus.
  3. ⚫βšͺ Contrast: OR lights tend to "wash out" video capture. Using the πŸ”… Contrast Slider, you can adjust the contrast so that the wound is visible.
  4. πŸ‘οΈβœ… Look and Verify: Look at the screen and double-check that all of the above are completed, and adjust if needed.

πŸ’‘Tip: You should be able to clearly see all details of the wound within the on-screen box. You can also capture a short "test" video and review it to ensure it looks like you expect.

You can then start to capture you video by tapping the blue button at the bottom of your screen.

πŸ’‘Tip: If the phone is bumped during the operation, you may need to adjust the position of the camera and verify the capture settings above are still appropriate. When you are done, press the shutter button at the bottom of the screen to finish your recording.

πŸ’Ύ Saving Your Video

After you capture your video, you will be able to review the entire video. If you took a test video, you can press the gray Retake Video button and start the actual video.

If you are satisfied with your video of the closure procedure, press the blue Save button.

🚨Save Before Exiting: If you do not press save before exiting the application, you may lose your video.

πŸ“€ Uploading Your Video

Your video will be temporarily saved on your device until you have a stable internet connection and are able to upload your video.

While the video is attemptiong to upload, you will see a box at the top of your dashboard with an upload progress bar. If you do not have a stable internet connection, this bar will not progress and will show a red❗️indicating the upload has stalled. When you return to an area with a stable internet connection, tap the failed video upload and the application will re-attempt to save the video to the AiCCESS database.

You can safely perform other functions (such as capture scans or questionnaires) or close the app at this time.
